Happy Thoughtful Thursday! As a fan of sports and the amazing work of the at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, this story tugs at my heartstrings.
This week is Hoops for St. Jude Week, when every NBA game will help to fight childhood cancer. If you happen to have watched any games, you may have noticed that NBA coaches are wear St. Jude lapel pins. The NBA has been highlighting the work of St. Jude throughout the week. Players and coaches who contribute to and visit the hospital regularly will also be helping to raise awareness of St Jude’s mission to save the lives of children battling cancer and other deadly diseases.
Not only are they saving lives, but St. Jude ensures that no family receives a bill. In order to make that happen, the hospital receives 75% of its funding from public donations. At a cost of $1.9 million per day to operate the hospital, every donation makes a difference.
