Here at Found the Marbles, we are all about finding a variety of ways to pay it forward. Yesterday I learned about Closets for Causes, a really neat site that auctions off celebrity worn accessories and fashions to help raise funds and awareness for a variety of non-profit organizations. They have figured out a new way to both do good and look good at the same time.
The site functions as an auctioneer of celebrities’ pre-owned items. Right now on the site they are auctioning items created by hot, hip and trendy eyewear designer, Stevie Boi. He is auctioning off a few pairs of his one-of-a-kind glasses, such as the ones worn by Anna Dello Russo, Fergie and Eva Marcille. The Fergz glasses were worn by Fergie during a Black Eyed Peas performance. There is also a really cool pair available for auction that was worn on the cover of Vogue Italia.
Proceeds from the sale of this line will go to benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles, one of the largest non-profit AIDS service organizations in the United States. They provide direct services and prevention education to more than 11,000 people each year.
The site is also auctioning hand-painted tees with images of celebrity icons. The tees were designed as a collaboration between Stevie Boi and designer Anthony Pieters, and were worn for an Australia Fashion Week.
As the site grows and more celebrity stylists and designers donate items for auction, Closets for Causes should continue to produce really fun and funky designs that you can add to your own collection or give to someone for a unique, one of a kind gift. I would recommend continuing to check back often for more auctions and new items.
I am looking forward to seeing where this site goes in the future and how much money they can raise for charitable causes by auctioning off these one-of-a-kind items. It has terrific potential, at least in my opinion, so even though I have no affiliation with the site I sure am rooting for it!
