Do you know the most common cause of disability in the United States? I’ll give you a hint. It costs the economy $128 billion (with a ‘b’) each year. It affects one in every five adults and nearly 300,000 children in the United States.
Have you taken a guess yet?
The answer is arthritis.
While there is no cure for arthritis, doctors say that moving is one of the best treatment options available. This Friday is World Arthritis Day, when the Arthritis Foundation wants to encourage all Americans to participate in exercise in order to prevent or decrease the pain and disability of arthritis.
The Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org) is committed to raising awareness and reducing the impact of this serious and painful disease. For more information about World Arthritis Day, go to: fightarthritispain.org/worldarthritisday.
