Here’s a great reason to keep an eye on this year’s touchdowns, especially those by Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Peterson, along with actors Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, have joined forces through their foundations to launch “Football For Good,” a campaign designed to generate awareness and raise funds for both programs for at-risk youth and to fight human trafficking of minors.
Peterson has made a personal commitment to donate $5,000 for every touchdown he scores this season. Kutcher and Moore have pledged to match that donation. In addition, for each Peterson touchdown, WBC Boxing Champion, Victor Ortiz, will make a donation. Texas Tea has committed to match Adrian’s donation of $5,000 per touchdown and donate $5.00 for every case of Texas Tea purchased from their website (www.teasoftexas.com) during the NFL season. GlobalMojo (www.globalmojo.com) has also committed $1,000 per Peterson touchdown.
So far Adrian Peterson has three touchdowns, for a total of no less than $48,000 with 12 games left in the season. In addition, five other players have also committed to various dollar amount donations based on their performances this season:
- Cincinnati Bengals’ Jermaine Gresham (for each touchdown)
- Indianapolis Colts’ Dallas Clark (for each touchdown)
- Chicago Bears’ Roy Williams (for each touchdown)
- Philadelphia Eagles’ DeSean Jackson (for each touchdown)
- Oakland Raiders’ Michael Huff (for every interception)
Fans who donate via www.crowdrise.com/football are eligible for prizes, including Adrian Peterson signed footballs and jerseys, an all expense paid trip to a Minnesota Vikings game and a meet and greet with Adrian. For details, go to www.crowdrise.com/football. You can also text ADRIAN to 20222 to donate $10.00 and receive a special message from Adrian Peterson.
The funds raised will be split equally between the DNA Foundation, which works to end human trafficking and Peterson’s All Day Foundation, which supports community-based youth enrichment programs for at-risk kids.
The DNA Foundation works to end child sex slavery worldwide by creating and supporting innovative programs to address the root causes of child sex trafficking. www.dnafoundation.org.
The All Day Foundation supports programs for at-risk youth and will invest the funds in programs with the Texas Advocacy Project, Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Special Olympics and other youth enrichment programs. www.alldayfoundation.org.
