Father’s Day is amazingly just around the corner. Between end of year picnics, tutu wearing dance recitals, school concerts, the dreaded report card and finishing up the sports season, we are just not thinking about Father’s Day yet. What this means is that it is going to creep up and slap us right in the face with all its family politics. So let us pledge now to have a drama-free Father’s Day.
This year I am planning to take an easy approach to Father’s Day. Besides wearing a sign that says “No Drama” it means ordering gifts and cards online rather than running to the store in a last-minute panic and buying whatever is left on the shelf.
The Father’s Day tradition at our house is becoming the all-day barbecue. My husband, like many men, loves his grill. I am still not quite sure how testosterone and grilling go hand-in-hand but it sure seems to be the case. Am I right?
My husband likes to fire up the grill and let the family come over as they please. With parents, step-parents, siblings, step-siblings and cousins there are a lot of people around so instead of having to coordinate everyone’s schedule, all are invited to stop by at whatever time works for them. No drama. It is the quintessential casual Father’s Day barbecue. There are cold drinks, baseball or golf on TV and the kids are outside playing.
As for my ordering the cards and gifts online, I found this card for my husband. Of course, I’ll switch the photo to one of him. I’m not THAT lazy.
And I am planning to make a photo card like one of these for the grandpas.
If you want to design or order your own cards for Dad or Grandpa, you can find them here: www.TinyPrints.com/greeting/shop/fathers-day-cards.htm. You can even send a card directly to Dad or Grandpa with a scheduled delivery date so you don’t have to worry about the drama of being late.
Now, what can I order as a present for the King of the Grill??
