Love beets? Me too! Beets are more than just a colorful item to add to an otherwise bland-looking salad. The health benefits of beets and beet juice are plentiful too. In fact, beets health benefits include something for everyone!
Truth be told, by kids aren’t quite sure about them. That deep purplish-red color is a little intimidating. Don’t tell them this, but I often hide beet juice in their smoothies so they still get their beets health benefits.
First of all, beets are high in high in folate, betaine, and nitrates. Of course, we all know that folate is important for women who are pregnant. Betaine helps to maintain liver, heart, and kidney health. Nitrates increases blood flow throughout the body, which reduces oxygen intake and can make exercise less tiring.
Yummy red beets are still one of my favorite items to add to a salad. My favorite beet salad recipe includes goat cheese, cucumbers, green apples or pears, and either walnuts or pistachios. It’s delicious!

Beets are healthy for juicing, too. When drinking beet juice, cold pressed is best. As we already mentioned,, drinking beetroot juice reduces oxygen uptake. Not only does this mean that beet root may be helpful in fighting off cardiovascular disease, the nitric oxide found in beets and beet juice can also boost stamina during high-intensity exercise.
