My friend Stacey Hoffer Weckstein contributed to a fantastic new book, Inspiration for a Woman’s Soul: Choosing Happiness, released today Amazon! In this new book, best-selling publisher Linda Joy collected unique stories from twenty-seven women who have each chosen the path of positivity, even, perhaps, during times when doing so was not the easy choice. Through their stories, these women show that happiness and fulfillment are the result of inner wisdom and conscious decisions.
With the release, Stacey asked several inspiring bloggers to write a blog post about a moment in their lives when they chose happiness over fear, guilt, misery, or discontentment. Yet for me, the notion of choosing happiness did not come in one moment. It came over time. It came with time.
Life has not always been easy for me. In fact, I am not quite sure that it has ever been easy. Nor have I every been an outwardly happy-go-lucky individual. Rather, those experiences have made me a reflective person, a “thinker” if you will. Yet the notion of consciously “choosing happiness” did not reveal itself until I became a parent, when it became my duty to teach others that choosing happiness is, quite simply, a whole lot better than the alternative. It became an opportunity to lead by example.
While not every day will not be a happy day, I will continue to look for the positive in every situation. Not just for myself, but for those around me. Because happiness is contagious.
Have YOU chosen happiness yet? Was there a moment that triggered the choice for you?
