If have been on Pinterest at all lately, you may have seen posts about essential oils, and how they can heal just about anything. As someone who is very into alternative and natural remedies, I was late to join the essential oil game.
So I have finally jumped in with both feet, so to speak. I am only beginning to tap into all the incredible benefits these oils can provide, from reducing stress, to improving focus, to eliminating seasonal allergies. You name it, there is an essential oil, or a combination of oils, that can reduce the symptoms or eliminate it altogether.
Sleep is a major issue in my home. Typically either my husband or I are going through a bout of insomnia at any time. Plus, he moves around all night long and snores quite a lot, which tends to keep me awake. Half the time lately, one of us ends up in a separate bedroom. All that is going to change now, and without the help of heavy medication which can make us groggier, foggier and more cranky in the morning.
My older son has asthma which is largely under control, but does sometimes flare up in the summer months. Not this year. With the help of essential oils applied topically, he will not have to need his inhaler at all. I would so much rather him take a natural oil than a synthetic medication.
For quite a while I had been seeing posts about essential oil remedies flying around Pinterest. My friend Christine had also done a series of posts about how essential oils have changed her life. With a family that includes seven children, that is quite an accomplishment! As I researched more, it seems that there is person after person who can talk nonstop about how oils have changed their lives. Why wouldn’t I want that for my own family?
My own family will attest to the fact that I use tea tree oil like it grows on trees or something. (Ha. You see what I did there? It actually does grow on trees.) Tea tree oil is my go to remedy. Then it dawned on me that if I learned more about essential oils, I might have a multitude of natural remedies at my fingertips. And so my journey with Young Living essential oils has begun, thanks to a friend who reached out and got me started by signing up for an Essential Oil kit.
The company sources all the oils from their very own farms around the world. The company also has a Scientific Advisory Council made up of scientific professionals from around the globe, who provide insight into development of essential oils and oil-infused products.
The oils can be used in a variety of ways, from breathing them, to diffusing them, to applying them topically, to wiping down surfaces with them, to ingesting them, and even to using them as ingredients for cooking. There are helpful guidelines for each oil and how to use it, as well as an app that can tell you the best oils for any different need, from ADD to Thyroid regulation to natural home cleaning.
For example, my complexion has always been a concern of mine, and as I get older I am trying to cure acne while battling wrinkles. There are oils that can be applied to my skin that will reduce acne, scarring, and fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, Young Living has an entire line of skincare products that are perfect for someone like me, who has always envied flawless skin.

Please note that I am not a doctor, nor to I play one on this blog. While I (and thousands of others) think essential oils are fabulous, they have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not regulated to treat, diagnose, cure or prevent any disease.
