How Far Would You Go to Cure Childhood Cancer?

Alex's Million Miles for a cure. Register now! One million miles is 40 times around the equator. One million miles is also two round-trips to the moon. But as the folks from Alex’s Lemonade Stand point out, it is only 76 miles for each child who will be diagnosed with cancer this year in the United States.

If your child had cancer, you would walk one million miles if it meant finding a cure. Wouldn’t you? Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the United States. That is why we must do whatever is necessary to cure childhood cancer, now.

Guess what? Registration is now open for the 2014 Alex’s Million Mile – Run. Walk. Ride! The month long, National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month event from the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation will take place throughout the month of September. You can run, walk, or bike your miles – or you can do a combination of the three. There is no minimum requirement for the amount of miles you or your team complete. Every step counts!

The goal is to log 1 million miles in one month while raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer. Anyone can join along and help to fight childhood cancer. Last year, more than 5,000 people participated and over $500,000 was raised to help fund pediatric cancer research. This year is set to be even better!

You can register now to participate in this inspiring event. Register individually or form a team with family members, co-workers, and friends. Make it creative and fun!

Let’s go the distance for all of our childhood cancer heroes this September. We can do this!

  22. One of the moms in our city thought her little boy was healthy. One year, she found out he had some cancer (can’t remember what kind) after a year, he died. She dealt with months of knowing her son wasn’t going to make it at all. It was hard to watch and truly unimaginable. I don’t take any day for granted with my son. I can’t imagine the pain and horror the parents who have to watch their children go through something like this. I would definitely want to help in any way I could.

  23. This is an awesome event for a great cause.
