Join Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Million Mile Run!

Million Mile run to benefit childhood cancerThis September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, local bloggers, friends and family will walk and run 1,000 miles and aim to raise $10,000 to help the fight against childhood cancer. It’s not too late to join us!

The team was inspired by childhood cancer hero Lily Adkins. Lily was diagnosed with a brain tumor called ependymoma when she was 14 months old. She endured five brain surgeries and a month-long hospital stay at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The brain surgery left Lily unable to sit, crawl or walk.

But now, Lily is a vivacious seven years old who is cancer-free. She can walk, dance, jump, and rock it on the soccer field, which means that Lily can also run. So Lily will be running along with our team as we work to reach our goal of 1,000 miles and $10,000 for a cure!

Sadly, too many children are not as lucky as Lily. Childhood cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children under age 15. Everyday 46 children are diagnosed with childhood cancer, and everyday a family begins the fight of their life. Research is consistently underfunded but with your support, we can make a difference!  We would do anything for our children even walk a million miles to save their life.

Not a runner? Don’t worry! You can walk too.

Join our team and help us raise the profile of childhood cancer while also raising funds to find a cure. Even if you are not local you can help. Here’s how to join the fight:

  1. If your preferred fruit isn’t in season, use a package of frozen fruit with its syrup.
Green smoothies are a healthy raw food option in contrast
to the processed food items that are filled with harmful chemicals, sodium and other dangerous preservatives.

I like my smoothies frozen and make them with frozen fruit most of the time.
