You know what? It’s good to get outdoors! Life can be stressful and pass by too quickly. It is hard to break free from our hectic schedules to breathe in some fresh air, connect with nature and with each other.
There are so many proven health benefits for those who spend time outdoors. Research shows that children who play outside have lower stress levels and more active imaginations, become fitter and leaner and are more likely to become environmentally conscious in the future.
DiscoverTheForest.org is a PSA campaign developed by the U.S. Forest Service and the Ad Council that wants to show families ways to experience nature. They offer ideas for where to go and what to do when spending time outdoors, making it easier to start exploring the nature around us.
Discover the Forest’s Get Your Community Outdoors! challenge is presented by the U.S. Forest Service, The Wilderness Society and the Ad Council on GOOD Maker, a crowd-sourcing tool to promote community activism and make good things happen. They are looking for ideas on how you can inspire your friends and neighbors to escape their stress and experience nature through outdoor play and discovering the great outdoors. One Grand Prize Winner will receive $1,000 to bring their idea to life as well as a $500 Frontier Airlines voucher to escape to the forest of their choice for a vacation.
